Plus one: Online applications from August 24

Thiruvananthapuram: The online applications for admissions to plus one course will be received from August 24.

Though the authorities had earlier planned to receive applications from Monday, due to certain changes that were to be made in the prospectus and software, the decision was deferred. The applications will now be received based on the prospectus which has been amended keeping in view the various court verdicts concerning reservation norms. Since the amended prospects would be ready only after Onam, the date was deferred to August 24.

Like last year, the government is planning to shift the student-less plus one courses to districts with surplus students. A decision on the issue would be taken only after evaluating the plus one applications in each district.

The information regarding the shortage of seats in each district and the lack of students would be available only after the completion of the online application submission process.

Last year the courses in which there were no students, were shifted temporarily to the Malabar region. At a time when there are no students for these courses in some districts, there are also institutions in which seats are not available for such courses.

Teachers cannot be provided in schools that don't have students. There is also a financial crunch in sanctioning new courses in schools having no seats.

In view of this situation, the government is planning to make arrangements at the local level.
