Students can now apply for various Central Government scholarships

The online applications for the various scholarships sponsored by the Central Government could be submitted now. For more information, visit https://scholarships.gov.in.

Scholarship by higher education department for students: Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students. This scholarship will be awarded to 82,000 students on the basis of the results of higher secondary examination. Separate quotas have been allotted for each state, including Kerala. Around 2000 students in the state would be eligible for this scholarship. Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream for a particular Board of Examination would be eligible for the scholarship. The annual rate of scholarship would be Rs 10,000 at the graduate level and Rs 20,000 at the post graduate level. The amount allocated for the graduate courses would be awarded to the BTech students for up to four years. The annual income of the family shouldn’t exceed Rs 8 lakh. The last date for application is 30 November.

Scholarships for students with disability: Students who have at least 40% disability are eligible for these scholarships. Scholarships of various rates are available for students from class 9 to the post graduate level. The family’s annual income should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The applications up to the pre metric level could be submitted until 15 November. Meanwhile, the last date of application for the post metric and top class (graduate/PG/Diploma) is 30 November. The scholarships are funded by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Financial Assistance for Education of the wards of beedi/cinema workers: Scholarships are available for students from class 1 to BTech/ MBBS/ BSc Agriculture programs. Rates of scholarships range from Rs 250 – 15,000. However, the candidates have to pass the qualifying exam in the first chance itself. The annual income of the family shouldn’t exceed Rs 10,000/8000. The last date of application for pre metric scholarships is 15 November while it is 30 November for the post metric scholarships. The scholarships are sponsored by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
