Scholarships for economically weaker students of forward castes

Students of forward caste groups whose family’s annual income doesn’t exceed Rs 1 lakh can submit applications for the Ambedkar Post Metric Scholarships for admissions to various courses in government institutions. The applications for the academic year 2021- 22 should reach via post before 28 September. The scholarships are distributed by the Kerala State Welfare Corporation for Forward Communities. Students who do not belong to the Scheduled Caste/Tribe communities and Backward Castes are eligible for the scholarships. They must possess a bank account. They shouldn’t receive any other scholarships or stipends alongside this scholarship. Moreover, they should have enrolled at a government institution. This aid won’t be given to students who choose aviation or pilot courses.

Students, after passing one course and joining for another course in the same stage aren’t eligible to receive the scholarship for the new course. For example, a student of MA cannot receive the scholarship if he / she choose to do an MA in another subject. Similarly, those who have completed a professional course cannot avail the scholarship for another professional course. But, those who have passed/failed graduate or post graduate courses in arts and science streams are eligible to receive the scholarship if they enroll for a professional / technical course after this. Meanwhile, non refundable fees and an annual allowance of Rs 900 would be awarded to students who have opted to learn via correspondence.

Two male children of the same parents are eligible for the aid. However, girl children aren’t eligible for this scholarship. The monthly allowance for various course are given below (The amount in brackets is for the day scholars who do not stay in hostels).

Group A : Bachelors, MPhil, PHd, post doctoral courses in medicine, engineering, architecture, agriculture, veterinary and allied, planning, management, finance, administration, design, fashion and computer science / applications. Medicine/management PG Diploma or CA or LLM programs – Rs 750 (350).

Group B : Graduate, PG and diploma courses in pharmacy, nursing, paramedical, rehabilitation, hotel management, mass communication, tourism, interior designing, nutrition, commercial art and financial services or LLB or Post Graduate courses that do not come under Group A (MA, MSc, MCom, Med) – Rs 510 (335).

Group C : BA, BSc, BCom and Bachelors courses that do not come under groups A and B – Rs 400 (210).

Group D : Post metric courses that do not qualify the candidates for choosing graduate courses (after standard 10) and also 11,12, ITI and polytechnic diploma – Rs 260 (160).

Besides these, the students would get admission/ tuition/ games/ magazine/ medical fees and up to Rs 900 as annual tour fee. Up to Rs 1000 would be distributed to prepare research thesis. This, along with self attested copies of certificates should be sent to the managing director through school/college principal.
