Register your options for engg, architecture, pharmacy courses by Oct 9; guidelines here

Options for the engineering, architecture and pharmacy degree programmes in Kerala can be registered till 4pm on October 9. The first allotment is on October 11. The fee will have to be paid by 3pm on October 16.

Eligible candidates need to submit options online based on the preference of the course and colleges. Parents should also be part of discussions on deciding the option.

Also keep a close watch on the latest notifications of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) on the website and the newspapers.

Candidates, whose scores have been withheld due to the anomalies in the application, can also carry out the option registration. But these candidates will be considered for allotment only if the anomalies are rectified by 4pm on October 8.

Know the course, college
Candidates should gather as much information as possible about the courses and colleges, and also on the job prospects after four years. There are 38 branches in engineering.

The options submitted initially on the site can be revised any number of times before the deadline. Engineering, architecture and pharmacy have separate rank lists. Candidates who aspire to enrol for only one should enter the options accordingly. For those who are trying for two or three streams, the options can be intermixed and submitted.

Options
»
Familiarise yourself with the codes of the courses and colleges. The engineering course codes and college codes are listed in the prospectus. Course code will have two letters and college code three letters. First, carefully read all the instructions given on the site.
» Options can be registered only for the eligible streams. One option comprises a course and a college. EE-TCR and CH-TCR are for the same college but two separate options.
» Make prior decision on what order the options should be entered after considering in several factors such as the expected rank, interested branches, the job prospects in that branch, the fee, reservation, the quality of an institution, campus recruitment facilities, and the distance from your home to the institution. Also discuss with your parents or other people concerned.
» Roll number (six digits), application number (seven digits) and the password entered while submitting online application should be carefully noted down.
» On the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in, click on the 'KEAM 2021 - Candidate Portal' and enter the application number and password. Click on the ‘Option Registration’ link.
» Codes, full name of colleges, and the fee will be listed on the ‘Option Registration' page. Then submit the options in accordance to the instructions on the site.
»The preference of the combination in the selected list can be changed and the unwanted options can be deleted as well. After making each change, it is important hit the save button. These can be revised later.
» After submitting the options, it is better to take a printout. Then logout.
» The data last saved will be in the system as your option list. Until the Commissioner freezes the options in the list, changes can be made.
» If you face any difficulty in submitting the options on the website, click on the option worksheet or detailed option worksheet and mark your preferences on it. Using this, the data can then be entered on the option site, without any mistake.
» If a higher option is allotted, then you will not be allowed to change to an option lower than that.
» The government seats and the management seats at the self-financing colleges under the government control should be deemed as separate options. The selection to the management seats, with high fees, will also be through this option criteria. The government seats at the private self-financing colleges too have a different fee structure.
» After the last date for submitting options, the Commissioner will freeze the page and will allot the best option for each candidate as per the eligibility. The prescribed fee will have to be remitted at the specified post offices or via online. Candidates who do not remit the fee will not considered for the admission to that stream later: (A) engineering (B) architecture (C) pharmacy.
» Once one option is allotted, the options below that will be automatically removed. For example: a candidate, who has submitted 60 options, is allotted the 15th option. Then options from 16 till 60 will be cancelled, while the first to 14 will be retained. Those who remit the fee will be given opportunity later to revise the order of options from 1 to 14 and remove the unwanted options. But they will not be able to add a new option.
» After this, there will be the second allotment. Several names are likely to be struck off over non-payment of the fee. Eligible candidates will be given the vacancies thus created as per the higher option.
» Candidates should seek admission at the colleges on the stipulated date with the original documents. As the original documents have not been verified until this stage, there could be anomalies for some and those candidates may not be able to secure admission. If the candidate fails to report for admission, the name will be removed from that stream.
» After the first allotment, those who want to be considered for higher options in the next phase should go to the home page on the portal and click on the 'Confirm' button. Only after giving confirmation, the candidate will be able to make changes to the priority of the options or delete any of the unwanted options. Those who do not hit confirmation will lose out on the higher options. These will not be considered for the next allotment. But the allotted option will be retained. This is applicable to the subsequent allotments as well (prospectus: 11.6.4)
