PG medical admissions to begin soon in Kerala, keep ready documents to avail reservation

Thiruvananthapuram: The admission process for the post-graduate medical courses in Kerala would begin soon. The national-level counselling for MD and MS courses as well as those for diploma and DNB courses commences from Wednesday, Jan 12, as announced by the Medical Counselling Committee following the nod by the Supreme Court.

To avail the seat reservation benefits, the eligible candidates should keep ready the relevant caste or income certificates as the case may be. The certificates have to be uploaded along with the online application.

Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBCs) need to submit caste, tribe and non-creamy layer certificate, respectively.

The non-creamy layer certificate denoting annual income is required for wards of parents of inter-caste marriage as well as those from the Socially and Educationally Backward Communities (SEBC) and Other Eligible Communities (OECs)

Those seeking the reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) need to produce the EWS certificate (from the village or municipal officer.

Community certificate, certified by the village/municipal officer, is required for applying for the minority quota seat.

Nativity certificate need to be submitted by all candidates if the place of birth isn’t mentioned in the school certificate or birth certificate.

Documents for NRI quota seats
Candidates seeking admission for seats reserved for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) need to submit copy of the sponsor’s passport and visa/green card/Overseas Citizen Of India certificate attested by the embassy.

In case the details about the employment of the sponsor aren’t mentioned in these documents, then a certificate from the revenue officials that shows the relation between the candidate and the sponsor should be attested from the consulate/embassy. If the sponsor is a parent of the candidate, then educational documents that include the names of the candidates and the parents is enough.

The affidavit of the sponsor agreeing to bear all the educational expenses of the candidate should be prepared on a stamp paper of Rs 200 and attested by a notary. In case the sponsor is in a foreign country, then the affidavit has to be submitted as per the laws of the respective countries.
