A number of school and college students reached CMS College in Kottayam during the early hours of Wednesday to observe a unique celestial event.

During the spectacle, the planets Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn were aligned along a straight line in the sky. The moon too made an appearance near them, creating a stunning view.

The sky observation of the event, which takes place once in several years, was arranged by CMS College and Breakthrough Science Society.

On the occasion, a new telescope installed at CMS College was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr Varghese C Joshua. Among those who took part in the sky watch event and a discussion that followed included Prof P N Thankachan, Dr Reenu Jacob, Blessen George, Binoy P Johny, K K Raveendran, P G Sreekumar and Vinod K J.
