Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan instructed that the schools in the state should arrange parking facilities in the campus on the school reopening day as most parents are likely to drop off their wards in vehicles. He pointed out that parking vehicles on the road would create traffic blocks and other difficulties.

These are some of the other instructions:

» The school should arrange proper parking facilities for the vehicles that they have hired for students’ commutation.

» Campaign banners and flags placed precariously on roadsides should be removed.

» Boards that create traffic blocks or confusion on the traffic islands and footpaths should be taken down.

» Warning boards and traffic signboards should be installed near the schools.

» The school busses should fulfil the fitness guidelines issues by the Motor Vehicles Department.

» The workers in the school busses should get police clearance certificates about their conduct.

» Ensure that banned substances and drugs aren’t sold in shops in the vicinity of schools.

» The teachers should call the parents if a student is absent in class.

» Tree branches that pose danger should be cut off.

» Loose wires and rods that hang dangerously from electric posts should be removed to ensure safety.
