The National Sports University at Imphal in Manipur offers programmes related to sports and fitness. This central university functions under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The candidates’ performance in the entrance test and their achievements in the field of sports would be considered for admission. Besides, they should pass the physical fitness test too.

Programmes
a) Physical Education

1. Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports (BPES): This three-year course has 50 seats. The applicants should have passed Plus-Two with at least 45% marks and must have sports achievements.

2. Master of Physical Education and Sports (MPES): This course lasts for 2 years. There are 30 seats up for grabs.

b) Sports Coaching
1. Bachelor of Science in Sports Coaching (BSc–SC): This four-year course has 50 seats.

2. Master of Science in Sports Coaching (MSc– SC): The course is 2 years long and has 15 seats.

c) Sports Psychology
1. Master of Arts in Sports Psychology (MA–SP): 2 years; 15 seats

How to apply?
The online applications could be submitted until 25 June.

The application fee is Rs 1,000.

The entrance test will be held at 7 centres across the country including Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai. There will be a common entrance test for the Bachelors courses.

Those who applied for the PG courses should attend a separate entrance.

Thirty per cent seats have been reserved for women. Reservations are available as per the central government’s guidelines.

The classes are likely to begin on 10 August.
