Thiruvananthapuram: The candidates who passed the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical entrance exam and secured admission at a college after paying the tuition fee often hesitated to move to a different college as they may lose the amount that they had paid.

However, the Human Rights Commission noted that the state government had instructed the colleges to refund the entire fee amount, if the student gets admission at a different college, on the last day via spot admission.

The government has decided to execute the order of the Commission against the colleges’ stand that the tuition fee wouldn’t be refunded if the student seeks Transfer Certificate after the admission processes have ended.

In the order, government instructs the students who joined a new college to apply for TC at the first college, the next day itself. This guideline is especially applicable to the colleges that take part in the spot admission process.

Until now, the students who sought transfer after the admission procedures closed weren’t eligible to get the tuition fee refunded. Kamaleshwaram native BK Reyhana had approached the state Human Rights Commission against the LBS College in Thiruvananthapuram to secure a favourable decree.
