Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam, which has a status equal to a university, has called for admission to MTech and PhD programmes. The MTech programmes are for employed professionals. The courses are in three much-sought-after areas and have good prospects.

Eligibility for admission
A pass in BTech in any of the disciplines with 50% marks, BE, AMIE or MCA or CS/IT/Maths. The candidate should be employed in an industrial establishment or in the academic sector.
The maximum number of seats is 60 with a minimum of 20 seats in each branch of study. The candidates are allowed to complete the course in 3 to 5 years depending on their convenience. It is also possible to complete the course as an integrated PhD programme.
The candidate’s experience in the relevant field obtained after the qualifying course too will be considered for admission. The last date for receiving the applications is November 30.
The application fee is Rs 500. The fee is Rs 250 for women and Scheduled Caste/Tribe applicants.
Those who qualify in the preliminary round of selection will have to undergo a written test and interview from December 9 to 18. The selection list will be published on December 21 and classes will begin on January 6.
In order to successfully complete the course, the candidates will have to obtain 32 course credits and 28 project credits. For each credit of theory/lab course and project Rs 12,000 and Rs 5,000 will have to be paid respectively.
The approximate fee for completing 60 credits in six semesters is Rs 5.40 lakh.
Classes, virtual lab sessions and mid-semester examinations will be conducted totally online. However, the examination at the end of a semester and the final project review will be conducted at the off-campus centre in Thiruvananthapuram or in centres such as Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Prayagraj, and Delhi if there are sufficient number of students.

PhD programme
Those interested in doing PhD in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computational Mathematics may submit their applications online before November 23.
The application fee is Rs 1,000. It is Rs 500 for women and Scheduled Caste/Tribe applicants.
The four categories of students for the programme are scholarship holders (full-time), sponsored (full-time), self-financed (full time), and external registrants.
The selection will be based on a written test and interview. The classes will begin on January 4. The semester tuition fee is Rs 22,000. There will be other fees too. Hostel facility is available.
