Thiruvananthapuram: Persons with disabilities will have all the benefits available for the candidates of Scheduled Caste/Tribe for admission to higher education courses, including professional ones. This was conveyed to the registrar of the Kerala Agricultural University by S H Panchapakesan, the Kerala State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, by citing a Supreme Court order.

The Commissioner ordered the Registrar to issue an order to this effect.

The Commissioner has instructed to send the copy of the order to the registrars of all the universities including deemed universities, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department and the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations.

His intervention is in response to a petition filed by Sandra, a native of Valancherry in Malappuram and a person with disability. In her plea, she claimed her application for the MSc Agriculture course was rejected by the university.
