Join National Forensic Sciences University for unique PG programmes

Applications can now be submitted online for two two-year post-graduate programmes at the National Forensic Sciences University. The courses are MSc Forensic Dentistry and MSc Forensic Nursing. The last date to apply is December 30.

Admission counselling for both the programmes would be held on January 4, 2023. Classes are scheduled to begin on January 9. 

Seats and Eligibility
• MSc Forensic Dentistry: 20 seats 
The applicant should possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from an institute recognized by the Dental Council of India, with a minimum of 55 per cent marks. For Scheduled Castes/Tribes and differently-abled categories the minimum marks required is 50 per cent.

Why this course is important?
Many crimes are brought to light with evidence related to bite marks. Forensic dentistry experts (Forensic odontologists) can also help identify bodies and help the police with the investigation.

Dental forensic studies are effective to find evidence faster than fingerprints and other modes of studies.

• MSc Forensic Nursing: 20 seats
The applicants should possess a BSc Nursing degree with 55 per cent marks from a university recognized by the Indian Nursing Council. For Scheduled Castes/Tribes and differently-abled categories the aggregate marks required is 50 per cent.

The applicant should also have one year of recognized work experience after procuring the degree and registering with the Nursing Council of any of the States in India.

Why this course is important?
Forensic nurses have a key role in providing medical services to relieve women and children who have been assaulted. Their services are crucial in the physical, mental and emotional rehabilitation of survivors. They can also efficiently assist the doctors in collecting the samples, including body fluids, as evidence to prove sexual assault cases. Forensic nurses can provide better expert service in postmortem examinations.

National Forensic Sciences University is an institution of 'National Importance' under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. It offers special programmes including those that are not available in other universities.
