Land a plum posting in the power sector with these NPTI courses; know how to apply

Technical experts have a crucial role to play in the modernization and expansion of the fast-developing power sector in India. Such experts are moulded by institutions such as the National Power Training Institutes (NPTI) under the Union Ministry of Power.

The NPTI at Nagpur, Maharashtra, has now invited applications for admissions to its three programmes. The applications should be submitted online and the last date is February 16. All candidates in the previous batches have secured good postings in the power sector.

Programmes

The one-year programmes offered by NPTI, Nagpur are:

• Graduate Engineers Course in Power Plant Engineering: Eligibility is a BTech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Control & Instrumentation, Power Engineering or related branch. The course fee is Rs 2.30 lakh. For sponsored candidates, the fee is Rs 3.60 lakh.

• Post Graduate Diploma in Power Plant Engineering: Eligibility is the same as for the previous programme, but the candidate should have secured at least 60 percent marks. The course fee is the same as above.

• Post-Diploma in Power Plant Engineering: The eligibility is a diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics or related branch. Course fee is Rs 1.45 lakh for General category candidates and Rs 2.20 lakh for those with sponsorship.

Things to note

An additional 18-percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) is charged on the course fees. There are other fees also to be paid. There is no concession or waiver or fees to any category of applicants. The application fee is Rs 500, including GST.

There are 60 seats for each course and ranks will be decided based on the marks scored by the candidates in the qualifying exam. The rank-list will be published on February 20. Online counselling will follow on February 22. Classes will start on February 27.
