New Delhi: In a major decision by the Indian Army, an online entrance test would be conducted as the first step in the recruitment of youth for its new short-term service in Agniveer rank.

Those who qualify in the online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) will be called for physical fitness tests to be held at recruitment rallies and those who clear this hurdle will have medical tests before the selection. Now, recruitment rally is held first and it is followed by a written test.

The Army has published an advertisement explaining the changes. The advertisement for fresh recruitments would be published by the middle of this month and that the entrance test would be conducted at 200 centres in the country.

The recruitment process has been changed to reduce crowding at recruitment rallies.

Nearly 1.5 lakh candidates had taken part in recruitment rallies conducted in big cities last year. The Army has already recruited 19,000 Angiveers, with 21,000 more scheduled to join in the beginning of March. The Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force too recruit Agniveers.
