SSLC, HSC exams to begin on March 9, 10; preparations complete: Minister Sivankutty

Thiruvananthapuram: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations will be conducted from March 9 and the Higher Secondary Course examinations will begin from March 10 as announced earlier, Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty said on Saturday.

The preparations for the smooth conduct of the examinations have been completed, the Minister said.

The SSLC examinations will be conducted from March 9 to 29. The HSC examinations will begin on March 10 and end on March 30.

The Vocational Higher Secondary Examination (VHSE) too will start on March 10 and end on March 30.

All the exams of SSLC, HSC and VHS course will begin at 9.30 am on the scheduled dates.

2,960 SSLC exam centres

The number of examination centres for SSLC exams is 2,960.

In all 4,19,362 regular students and 192 private students will sit for the SSLC exams. The number of boys and girls are 2,13,801 and 2,00,561, respectively.

The evaluation of answer papers will be held in 70 camps across Kerala by 18,000 teachers from April 3 to April 24.

The result of the SSLC exams will be declared in the second week of May.

HSC exams

There will be 2,023 examination centres for Higher Secondary Course this time, the Minister stated.

While 4,25,361 students will write the Plus-One exam, 4,42,067 students will appear for the Plus-Two exam this year.

The HSC evaluation camps are scheduled from April 3 to the first week of May. Totally, 25,000 teachers will check the answer scripts for HSC exams at 80 evaluation camps across the state.

VHSE

The examination for classes 1 to 9 will start on March 13 and end on March 30.

The evaluation for VHSE papers will also start from April 3.

'V help' helpline for students and parents

The Department of Public Education and Department of Higher Secondary have launched a toll-free telephone helpline called 'V Help' from Friday to provide necessary support to students and parents to ease various types of stress faced by children in connection with the public examinations.

Counselling will be available to students and parents from 7 am to 7 pm. Children and parents can call 180 042 528 44 for advise. The toll-free service will be available on all working days till the end of the examination.

Textbook printing on

Meanwhile, the printing of textbooks for the next academic year is currently in progress. About 40 lakh textbooks of classes 9 and 10 have been brought to district hubs for distribution. Textbooks will be distributed through Kudumbashree units.

It has also been decided to provide 5 kg of rice each to children who are members of the mid-day meal scheme during the summer vacation.

The distribution of rice will start from March 20.
