New Delhi: As part of implementing the New Education Policy of the Government of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is introducing a new academic programme for Classes 3 to 8.

Titled ‘National Framework for Foundational Stage’, the new curriculum will come into force from this academic year.

Meanwhile, the CBSE will start a new academic programme for nursery classes also from the coming year. This scheme will cover nursery to Class 2. CBSE schools which currently do not offer nursery classes have been directed to start them under the new curriculum.

Five-fold development of child

Authorities said that the proposed academic framework for the primary classes has been prepared under the principle of ‘panchakosa vikas’(five-fold development) of the child.

‘Panchakosa’ comprises five sections – ‘sareerik vikas’ (physical development), ‘pranic vikas’ (development of life energy), ‘manasik vikas’ (emotional / mental development), ‘bauddhik vikas’ (intellectual development) and ‘chaitsik vikas ’ (spiritual development).
