Thiruvananthapuram: The question papers for the higher secondary Plus-Two Physics examination were issued in the same hall of the same school in in Thrissur district in two colours: white and yellow. Teachers who were on invigilation duty were taken aback seeing the different colours, while their union leaders termed it as a sign of disarray in the conduct of public examination.

Earlier, higher secondary authorities had claimed question papers are printed in different colours in order to avoid confusion as the examinations for Plus One and Plus Two are taking place at the same time. But this claim falls flat as question papers in two colours were distributed for the same exam.

When the Plus-One question paper was printed in red ink on white paper, the General Education Department had claimed that the change of colour was done in order to identify the paper easily. But now, when the same question paper was received in two colours, it has compounded the confusion among teachers.

The examination wing of the Higher Secondary Department says that no specific directive had been given to print the question papers in different colours. Panakkad Abdul Jaleel, the general secretary of Kerala Higher Secondary Teachers’ Union (KHSTU) and S Manoj, general secretary of the Aided Higher Secondary Teachers’ Association (AHSTA), alleged that the examination system was in a state of disorder and demanded that action should be taken against those responsible.
