Puthukkad: Prajyoti Niketan College in Puthukkad has secured an A Grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 3.24 points.

Laudable initiatives

An NAAC peer team, which had visited the college as part of the scrutiny, recognised its 'Societal Engagement for Social Commitment' and 'Green Commitment for a Sustainable Future' as best practices.

The campus' 'Hunger Hunt Project', which was initiated in association with Fr Davis Chirammel Charitable Trust, also gained much appreciation during the NAAC team's visit.

As part of the project, all the five departments in the college place food packets on five days in a week on a shelf placed beside the Panchayat Road near the National Highway 544. This offers a helping hand to the poor and needy in Puthukkad Gram Panchayat limits.

The NAAC grades and criteria

The assessment by NAAC is based on seven criteria: Curricular Aspects, Teaching- Learning and Evaluation, Research, Extension and Innovation, Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Student Support and Progression, Governance and Management and Institutional Vision and Best Practices.

The assessment and accreditation process happens once in every five years.

The NAAC grades institutions as A, B, C and D which denote Very good, Good, Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory levels, respectively.
