The fifteenth edition of the Q Positive quiz workshop will take place at JDT Islam Nursing College in Vellimadukunnu, Kozhikode from April 29 to May 1. The event is being organised by Malayala Manorama in association with Q Factory, Kerala’s first professional quiz body and JDT Islam.

The workshop is the first event of a year-long training programme that introduces schoolchildren to the world of quizzing and general knowledge. Thousands of students have taken part in the previous 14 editions of Q Positive. These students later won prizes at national as well as international quiz events and also succeeded in scholarship exams such as the NTSE (National Talent Search Examination).

Sessions at Q Positive are designed to enable students to confidently face exams such as LSS, USS and Sasthra Pratibha. These sessions will be led by Snehaj Srinivas, who is a top quizmaster in Kerala, and over 12 other distinguished quizmasters, apart from civil service officers.

Overview of event

The training sessions are based on topics such as history, science, sports, business, literature, art, and culture and are aimed at boosting the skills of the students in observation, analysis, logic, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Another specialty of Q Positive is a buzzer practice session, where the students are trained to answer questions very quickly. The students will also be familiarised with the various rounds and formats of national-level quiz programmes.

After the three-day offline training camp at JDT Islam from April 29, students can take part in online sessions lasting one year. There will be 12 online sessions, with one every month. In addition to the sessions, students will receive daily general knowledge (GK) cards, weekly GK updates, and fact cards on days when various observations take place. They can also take part in mini-quizzes and monthly informal quiz meets. Students will also be alerted about national and international quiz events and competitive exams.

Eligibility

Students in Classes 1 to 8 can take part in Q Positive. They will be divided into three categories: subjunior, junior, and senior. The students will receive continuous training from mentors over the course of one year.

Students registering for the camp at JDT Islam can also compete in a quiz during the final session. The winners of this quiz can take home cash prizes and quiz books.
