Thiruvananthapuram: Students from the higher secondary level to post graduation are now eligible for internships by the Local Self-Government Department of the Kerala Government as the ambit of the existing internship programme has been expanded.

Students and research scholars enrolled with recognised universities in India or abroad will be admitted as ‘interns’.

The internship period is for one year without any pay or compensation.

The LSG’s internship programme was earlier meant for B Tech and M Tech holders. Now it has been expanded to include students and research scholars from all segments.

The internship would be allowed at panchayat offices, municipalities, corporations, and district offices and also for projects/schemes such as Life Mission, Kudumbasree, Shuchitwa Mission, Information Kerala Mission, AMRUT, Kerala Solid Waste Management Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
