The LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for admission to BSc Nursing and several paramedical degree courses at various government/ private management colleges in Kerala.

There will be no entrance exam for admission to these courses.

The online applications could be submitted until July 3.

Eligibility, fees, age

The marks scored by the candidates in Class 12 would be considered for the admission process. LBS Centre for Science and Technology has been entrusted to receive the applications and prepare the rank list.

The applicants of all categories and communities should complete 17 years of age as on December 31, 2023. There is no upper age limit for the candidates, except for those who apply for the Service quota. However, the candidates shouldn’t be above 35 years for BSc Nursing.

The annual fee at government colleges is in the Rs 21,000 to Rs 23,000 range.

Courses
1. BSc Nursing – The four-year course includes a year of internship at government colleges.
2. BSc MLT (Medical Lab Technology) is a four-year course.
3. BSc Perfusion Technology – The course lasts for three years and the students are required to do one-year long internship.
4. BSc MRT (Medical Radiological Technology) is a four-year long course.
5. BSc Optometry is of three years and has one year internship.
6. BPT (Physiotherapy) is a four year course with six months internship.
7. BASLP (Audiology and Speech Language Pathology) has three years of studies and 10-month internship.
8. BCVT (Cardio Vascular Technology) – This is a three-year course with one-year internship.
9. BSC Dialysis Technology lasts for three years with an additional year of internship.
10. BOT (Occupational Therapy) is a four-year course with six months internship.
11. Bachelor of Medical Imaging Technology.
12. Bachelor of Radio Therapy Technology.
13. Bachelor of Neuro Technology.

The courses 11, 12 and 13 have been included in the prospectus though they are expected to get the government/university’s approval soon.

Qualifications
The aspirants have to be Keralites in order to be eligible for applying. Even though Persons of Indian Origin and Overseas Citizens of India would be considered for admission, there wouldn’t be any reservations.

The general eligibility criterion is that the candidates should score at least 50% marks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Plus Two.

For the BASLP course, the candidates should have scored 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and one of Biology/Maths/Computer Science/ Statistics/ Electronics/ Psychology.

In case there are board exams for both years in higher secondary, the average of the marks scored by the candidate in both years would be considered for admission. However, in case, the board exam is only for Class 12, then its marks would be taken.

(NOTE: The Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary Education is equivalent to the Higher Secondary course.)
