Kochi: Prakhar Jain, a student at Saraswati Vidyaniketan Public School, Elamakara here, has emerged as the top performer in the JEE Advanced 2023 examination in Kerala. Prakhar won the 21st rank at the national level IIT entrance examination when the results were announced on Sunday.

He scored 312 marks out of 360. Hailing from Delhi, Prakhar and his family relocated to Kerala two years ago when his father, Piyush Jain, had to shift from Mumbai to Kochi as the deputy general manager at BPCL Refinery. Prakhar had achieved 59th national rank in the JEE Main 2023, scoring 290 marks out of 300.

JEE-Main, which is the admission test for engineering colleges across the country, is the qualifying exam for JEE-Advanced.

Expressing happiness over his big win, Prakhar said he wishes to secure admission to IIT Bombay with specialisation in emerging technologies like data analytics and artificial intelligence.

While preparing for the JEE Advanced examination, Prakhar used to study for around 12 hours each day and sleep for six hours. He received training from FIITJEE Kochi. Prakhar attributed a significant part of his success to the confidence instilled in him through the model tests and classes conducted by the coaching institute.

Apart from his academic credentials, Prakhar has also been interested in sports. The boy holds a double black belt in karate and has won a district badminton championship. He has qualified for prestigious competitions such as the National Chemistry Olympiad and National Mathematics Olympiad. Prakhar has also excelled in the KVPI and NTSE scholarship exams.

Prakhar said his mother, Dr Surabhi Jain, and his elder brother, Pranava Jain, who recently completed his BTech from NIT Trichy, formed his support system.
