Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government will issue the second notification for appointments under the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) on November 1. The notification will list 44 new posts and deputation slots that have been selected for the service. It has been decided to expedite the appointments after the notification is issued on November 1.

A committee led by the Chief Secretary had been entrusted with the responsibility of finding vacancies for the service.

Appointments under the Kerala Administrative Service which has the tagline “the proud service of Kerala” had come to a halt after the first notification. The hiccup occurred after new posts for appointments could not be found.

Following this, a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to find more vacancies. In accordance with this, 44 posts from 80 departments, including deputation vacancies in the Secretariat, were hand-picked.

At present, officials from the Secretariat are deputed as administration managers in many of the departments. These posts too will be included in the second notification.

Earlier, 105 posts in 29 departments were included in the service. Although the first notification was issued in 2019, the list of appointees was released only in 2021.

The Public Service Commission had asked the government to inform it of vacancies that arise after the expiry of the first list, but there has been no favourable response.
