Thrissur: The Kerala State School Athletics Meet began at Government Senior Boys Synthetic Stadium at Kunnamkulam on Tuesday. Finals of 21 events will take place on the inaugural day. Competitions are scheduled from 7 am to 8 pm.
The flag of the event was hoisted by Director for General Education S Shanavas on Tuesday morning. The formal inauguration of the meet will be conducted by Minister for Education V Sivankutty at 3:30 pm on Tuesday after a march-past.
Meanwhile, the torch relay for the event which was started by former Indian footballer I M Vijayan will reach the stadium on Tuesday evening. The torch will be handed over by A C Moideen MLA to Olympian Lijo David Thottan and installed at the stadium by Indian hockey team goalkeeper P R Sreejesh.
