It’s time to apply for PhD, MSc-Neurosciences at National Brain Research Centre

National Brain Research Centre, an autonomous institution functioning at Manesar in Haryana with support from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has invited applications for admission to MSc-Neurosciences and PhD programmes. The deadline to submit the online/offline applications is March 31 for MSc and May 16 for PhD.

PhD
Eligibility to apply is post-graduation in life sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, computer applications, pharmacy, veterinary science or psychology / MBBS / BTech.

Preliminary selection will take place based on the score of the candidates in JGEEBILS (Joint graduate entrance exam for biology & interdisciplinary life sciences); GATE-2024 / GATE-2024 in the particular subject; JEST 2024; CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR JRF which could be activated on or after August 31, 2024.
Subsequently, interviews will be conducted for final selection.

MSc
A bachelor’s degree in life sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, computer applications, pharmacy, veterinary science or psychology / MBBS / BTech are the basic qualifications needed to apply for MSc.

Performance in the JGEEBILS exam held on December 10, 2023 will be considered for preliminary selection. Final selection will be conducted based on a two-phase interview.

Other requirements
Applicants should have scored at least 55 per cent marks / equivalent grade in all exams from Class 10. The cutoff is 50 per cent for candidates belonging to scheduled and differently-abled categories. Those facing final exams also will be considered.

Monthly fellowships
PhD scholars are eligible for a monthly fellowship of Rs 31,000 during the first two years and Rs 35,000 in the subsequent years. In addition, hostel facilities or rent allowance will be available.
The fellowship amount for MSc is Rs 12,000.

Candidates eligible to apply for MSc and PhD can apply through two separate email IDs. The application fee is distinct for MSc and PhD.

The online application fee is Rs 500. The amount is Rs 250 for women and scheduled / differently-abled category candidates. Offline application fee is Rs 600 / 300 respectively.

Candidates should ensure that they post the request for offline application forms sufficiently early so that it is received at the institution at least by March 1.
