Educational institutions in 12 districts in Kerala will remain closed on July 31 (Wednesday) due to heavy rain.

The holidays have been declared in:
Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta.

The holiday will be applicable to professional colleges as well, said the district collectors. On Monday, holidays were given for ten districts in the state in view of adverse weather.

Meanwhile, the MG University in Kottayam and the Kerala University have postponed its exams that were scheduled for Wednesday. "Fresh dates will be declared later," the Universities informed.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared an orange alert (115.6-204.4 mm rainfall) for the north Kerala districts of Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram on Wednesday.
