Apply for SET by May 28 to become a Higher Secondary teacher in Kerala

The deadline to register online for the State Eligibility Test (SET), scheduled to be held in July 2025, is midnight on May 28. Clearing the SET is mandatory for appointment as Higher Secondary School Teachers and Non-Vocational VHSE teachers in Kerala. The exact date of the exam will be announced later. Test centres will be available in all districts.
The exam comprises two papers. Paper I: Common to all candidates; covers General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude. Paper II: Subject-specific, of postgraduate standard
Each paper consists of 120 objective questions to be answered in 120 minutes. However, Mathematics and Statistics will have only 80 questions, each carrying 1.5 marks. There is no negative marking.
Qualifying marks:
General Category: Minimum 40% in each paper and 48% overall
Backward communities: 35% in each paper and 45% overall
Scheduled Castes / Differently-Abled: 35% in each paper and 40% overall
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks or a B.Ed. in any subject.
Additional accepted qualifications:
MSc-Ed (with 50%) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, or Zoology from RIE
MSc-B.Ed. in Life Sciences (for Botany or Zoology
MA Communicative English (Second Class, 50%) + B.Ed.
B.Ed not required for the subjects Anthropology, Commerce, Gandhian Studies, Geology, Home Science, Journalism, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics. Also exempted are candidates with DLEd/LTTC in Arabic, Hindi, or Urdu.
Candidates with MSc in Biotechnology (min. 50%) and B.Ed. in Natural Science are eligible. B.Ed. from Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha is recognised. Final-year postgraduates and B.Ed. students can also apply.
New guidelines:
Backward community applicants must submit a non-creamy layer certificate issued between April 29, 2024, and April 31, 2025.

₹750 for SC and differently-abled categories
