Plus One allotment: 2.49 lakh candidates get through in first round

Thiruvananthapuram: The Directorate of General Education has published the list of the first round of allotment for the various Plus One courses in the state. 2,49,540 candidates are included in the first allotment list. 4,63,658 applications of 4,17,807 candidates were received in the first phase. Among them, 45,851 candidates have also applied to other districts. After the first allotment to 3,18,574 merit seats in the government and aided schools, 69,034 seats remain vacant. Meanwhile, more than 1.6 lakh applicants await allotment.
1,57,110 out of the 1,57,137 seats in the general category have been allotted in the first round; only 27 seats remain to be filled. Meanwhile, 14098 seats in the Scheduled Caste, 17,094 seats in the Scheduled Tribe and 10,694 seats in the EWS categories are yet to be filled.
Number of vacant seats in other reserved categories after first round of allotment: There are 268 seats up for grabs in the Ezhava, Thiyya and Bilava categories, while 3740 seats are available for Muslims. 1,246 seats are vacant in the Christian OBC category while it is 857 in Hindu OBC. Dheevara has 2,442 vacant seats, Vishwakarma has 1571 seats and 2,156 seats remain vacant for Kudumbi. 3,501 seats are yet to be filled in the physically disabled category. There are 976 vacant seats for the visually impaired and 47 more seats are up for grabs in the linguistic minorities category. The seats that remain vacant in the reserved categories would be transferred to the general category in the third allotment.
The second and third allotments will be published on June 10 and 16. 6,121 seats among the 8,199 sports quota seats have already been allotted. Meanwhile, 1,314 seats among the 1,529 seats in the model residential schools too are allotted. The allotment list of vocational higher secondary too has been published. The allotment list has been uploaded after including the results of the SSLC SAY exam.
The candidates who got the allotment can get admission at the respective schools from 10 am on June 3 to 5 pm on June 5. They should reach the school with their parents, submit the original documents and pay the fees to confirm the admission. Those who got their first or preferred option could seek permanent admission. Meanwhile, candidates allotted other options could take permanent or temporary admission at the school. They will get the chance to transfer to their desired or higher option in the next allotments. The candidates could also keep only a few higher options and cancel the rest. The application for this should be submitted to the school where they take admission. Candidates who do not at least take temporary admission in a school despite getting the allotment will not be considered in the subsequent allotments.
