Mail This Article
Students can make option entries to various graduate programmes in engineering colleges in Kerala until 11 am on July 16. Provisional allotments will be made on July 17, followed by the first allotment the next day, July 18.
Fees for various courses can be remitted until 4 pm on July 21. For details and clarifications, contact: 0471-2332120; ceekinfo.cee@kerala.gov.in.
Types of colleges
G: Government-run, aided, and most colleges under universities
N: Cost-sharing (shared by the government and parents) colleges
S: Private, self-financing colleges
The option notification includes a complete list of colleges under all categories, and their fees.
Seats in the same college may have different fee structures. Options are different in such colleges.
Things to remember
- Aspirants must be thoroughly aware of the course content, employment opportunities on completion of the course, the excellence of the college, etc. Engineering has 15 branches (Architecture is a separate stream).
- Options can be changed multiple times on the website. It is, however, ideal not to wait until the last minute to change options.
- Only those candidates included on the engineering rank list can make the options. Likewise, only female students could opt for seats in women's colleges.
Steps to make options
1. Learn the engineering courses and codes of colleges provided in the prospectus.
2. A college and a course combined make one option. Students could opt only for the branch for which they are eligible.
3. Decide the preferences (order of options) before logging in.
4. Keep your six-digit roll number, seven-digit application number, and password confidential.
5. Click on the 'KEAM 2025-Candidate Portal' link in www.cee.kerala.gov.in to furnish the application number, password, and access code (Captcha). The homepage could be accessed through the 'Option Registration' link.
6. The homepage will display all course-code combinations of all branches for which the aspirant is eligible. Options could be applied for after remitting the registration fee and following the instructions provided.
7. Click in the order 1, 2, 3 against the preferred course-college combinations. However, keep saving the options intermittently.
8. The preferences could be changed/deleted anytime. However, save the page after making each change.
9. It would be ideal to take a printout after making the options, and before logging out.
10. The system will retain the last saved option list. If it has to be changed later, repeat the process after logging in. Changes can be made till the Entrance Commissioner locks the system. Click on the related link to check the options selected or to take printouts.
11. The 'trial allotment', which may be done before the option registration ends, will give an idea of your selection. However, it is not guaranteed that the selection under trial allotment will match the final allotment. Aspirants can change their options after checking the trial.
12. If a higher option has been allotted, the candidate cannot choose a lower one.
13. A candidate will not be considered for admission to a course/college to which he/she had not applied, even if seats are available. Hence, choose options that have a higher chance.
14. Note that there is an eight-fold fee difference in Food Technology courses offered by the three universities.
15. Once the time for option selection expires, the commissioner freezes the website and provides the best possible option to the candidates. The selection list will be available on the website. Fees could be remitted online or through designated post offices. Those failing to pay the fees will not be considered later.
16. Once an option has been allotted, other options below it (in preferential order) will be automatically cancelled. However, candidates will have one more chance to change the order of options or delete unwanted ones. But fresh options cannot be made.
17. Next in the process is the second allotment. Several candidates who did not properly remit the fees will be dropped, opening up more seats. Those eligible will be provided seats (based on vacancies) in their higher option. The fees may be different from what was already paid. If it is more, the candidate will have to pay the additional fee. If he/she has already paid more, the additional amount will be reimbursed after the admission process.
18. The candidate should report to the college where he/she has been allotted a seat with original documents on the prescribed day. Since the original documents have not been checked until this stage, there could be some issues that lead to the denial of admission. Not reporting to the college as instructed will lead to the removal of the candidate from the engineering stream.
19. After the first allotment, those who want to be considered for a higher option should click on the 'Confirm' button on the homepage. This confirmation is necessary to change the order of options or delete unwanted options. Additionally, those who do not confirm will automatically lose the higher option selected earlier, but the allotted option will remain. This norm is applicable to later allotments also.
20. Once a higher option is allotted, the candidate should mandatorily quit the allotted seat. If the candidate does not accept and join the higher option, he/she will lose both and will be removed from the system.
21. The website has a list of option facilitation centres and the post offices where the fees could be remitted. Those having difficulties in submitting the options can avail the services of the facilitation centres free of cost. If the candidate forgets the application number or password, it can be retrieved through the related links on the candidate portal.
22. Option registration has a fee of ₹2,000. This amount will later be transferred to the tuition fee. Those eligible for SC/ST and OEC benefits need to pay only ₹500 as registration fee. This applies to candidates from juvenile/Nirbhaya/Sree Chitra home candidates also. The amount will be transferred to their caution deposit. It will be reimbursed to those who fail to make the cut.
Points to note
- If the preferred college does not offer the course you are seeking, consider your preference: College or course.
- College matters. Those colleges are all recognised, and the quality of teaching and fee structure differ.
- Those whose examination results have been withheld, too, can submit options. However, only those clearing the issues before 11 am on July 16 will be considered for allotment.
- Keep a tab on the entrance commissioner's announcements.
Things to know
- There are five rank lists issued for allotment by the Entrance Exam Commissioner: Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Medical and Allied (excluding Ayurveda), and Ayurveda. Of these, options are now invited only for Engineering.
- Those allotted seats in government/aided/autonomous colleges should pay the entire fees before confirming their seats. A token fee of ₹8,000 should be remitted by those getting allotments in government cost-sharing/autonomous/self-financing colleges. Those eligible for SC/ST and OEC benefits need to pay only ₹500. However, they, too, will have to pay ₹8,000 if allotted merit-full fee seats in government cost-sharing colleges or community/registered society/ trust quota seats.
- Barring the management quota seats, allotment in aided autonomous colleges is similar to that of government institutions.
- Allotments will be made under the tuition fee-waiver scheme in courses that had at least 50 per cent of the total student strength in the previous year.
