Malappuram: The Valanchery police have arrested a youth for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The survivor’s mother, who had eloped with the youth, has also been arrested.
The youth, Subhash, is a native of Irimbiliyam near Valanchery in Malappuram. He along with the 28-year-old woman had been hiding in Tamil Nadu for the past one year.
Subhash had assaulted the nine-year-old daughter of the woman. When the minor girl told her mother about the assault, the woman allegedly asked her not to inform her father. And further threatened the child that if she did inform, the mother would leave with Subhash.
However, the girl lodged a complaint with the police and the woman fled the state with the youth.
The police have slapped POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) charges on Subhash and the woman. The accused were presented in court and remanded.
