Actress Mamtha Mohandas, under fire for her comments on sexual assaults made in an interview to a newspaper, has come up with a Facebook post clarifying her stand on the 'misinterpreted' words.
In the long post she noted her words were misinterpreted and she was unpardoning to sexual assaulters. Referring to her 'friends', who read her 'comments out of context' Mamtha said that she was not starting an argument adding that both the victim and the accused in the sensational actress attack case were her close friends.
She said no person or woman in their 'right mind would wish, encourage or support another child or woman being raped' she said and added, 'so your assumptions of me are invalid. She further added that she has been at the receiving end of travails that a woman can be exposed to.
"I completely lack forgiveness and the slightest empathy to all people who have committed such heinous crimes, and in my eye is ‘unpardonable’ and deserves ‘no second chances’. This includes common man, actor, politician regardless of whatever background he comes from. I’m a woman myself who is tired of being a victim of not so grave but other circumstances as well and I’m proud of the crown my friend/ colleague wears today being a stronger woman who’s more sorted and happier," she wrote in the post.
She said her comment that 'a women who gets into trouble was partly responsible for it' was made with regards to her personal life, "which is the only space where I allow people into my boundary."
Filmmaker Aashiq Abu and his wife, actress Rima Kallingal had reacted sharply to Mamtha's comments.
