Women are also responsible for assaults, says actress Mamtha
Mamtha revealed that the issue between the accused actor and the survivor actress did not erupt suddenly when the attack happened.

Actor Mamtha Mohandas said that women are also responsible for getting attacked as they may have, at times, entertained sexual overtures. In an interview to a national media house, the actress revealed that she was not in Kerala when the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), the women’s association in cinema, was formed. However, the actress added that she wouldn’t have become a part of it even if she had been here. Mamtha added she was not against the women’s association but choose to stay away as she doesn’t have an opinion.

Referring to the infamous actress attack case, Mamtha revealed that the issue between the accused actor and the survivor actress did not erupt suddenly when the incident happened. She added that those who were part of it were aware about the problems they were getting into.

Mamtha said that she heard someone say that AMMA was shielding its son instead of protecting its daughter. The award winning actress said it sounded like a joke for her as it comforted one group while angered another. She accused media of playing with people’s minds. She said that readers can be judgmental even without understanding the entire story.

In a strong statement, Mamtha further said that a woman too would be responsible if she gets into trouble. She added that she felt the woman may have entertained such behavior which may lead to sexual assault. She, however, added she was not trying to point fingers at anyone and that such instances shouldn’t happen with any woman.

Mamtha said women are attacked more and that it is difficult for beautiful and independent woman with opinions to survive and stay strong.

She said that things were easier for average looking women and they tend to do better, be it in relationships or in profession.
