Susi Ganesan's wife hits back at Amala Paul over #MeToo claims

Tamil film director Susi Ganesan's wife Manjari has slammed actress Amala Paul's statement against the former while she made an apparent bid to support filmmaker Leena Manimekalai.

In a tweet, Manjari wrote, "Give the Benefit of doubt to my husband too. Before stepping in to support #MeToo Cheat Leena ,(for ur gesture) i was expecting u to do some ground work about her notorious past. otherwise if u keep supporting Liars Metoo movement will die down soon.Thank you." (sic.)

Amala, earlier in the day, had issued a statement accusing Ganesan for behaving badly with her on the sets of a movie. She expressed support to filmmaker Leena while narrating her #MeToo experience.

However, shortly after that, Amala tweeted again saying that Susi and his wife Manjari called her up. "While I was trying to pacify his wife; Susi started abusing me and to my surprise his wife started laughing and they both joined to slut shame me. They feel they can scare me with these tactics," she tweeted.

Manjari also issued a statement and released it on Twitter.

“As an affected person's wife, I also watched Leena Manimekalai's press meet video. When (singer) Chinmayi answered almost all her questions, I was shocked to see Manimekalai bark at media for asking her a simple question: "What happened?" If she is an honest and truly affected person, she would have used this opportunity to reveal the facts to the press, who were doing live coverage on this "#MeTooCheat!" I could see her raging & yelling at a woman journo,"Being a woman are you not ashamed of asking me questions?" Where is the topic of gender when you face the press? Leena is the one using her female identity to hide her LIES.

When Leena can proudly and boldly declare herself as BISEXUAL, she should be able to boldly answer any question. Now as an affected wife, I want to ask the same questions the press asked her: interview date, time, duration of interview, street where the incident happened. Whoever supports her lies, please ask her to reveal the simple facts. These should not be uncomfortable questions for a 'revolutionary poet' like her.

Human beings can remember negative things more strongly and accurately than the positive things in their life. If she can clearly remember an imaginary event for 13 years, shouldn't she also remember the simple facts connected to it? She is clearly a #MeToo fraud and is a humiliation to this movement. She is very clearly the BLACK SHEEP in #MeToo, Manjari wrote.

Continuing, Ganesan's wife stated:

She (Leena) also mentioned in her first press meet that she would reveal other names depending on her mood! Is she trying to bargain and blackmail others by showing my husband's anguish to the world?

In this press meet, these ladies have revealed that they have no faith in the police, court and now they are painting a different colour to media. Well done.. Where are we heading? The people who support Leena Manimekalai - PLEASE THINK," read the statement.

On Saturday, South Indian Film Women’s Association had called a press conference in Chennai to express their distrust in the film industry because of the inaction against those who are alleged to have committed sexual harassment.

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada had accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual harassment.
