Eid releases: Movies to watch out

It's the time of Eid and for movie buffs it's time to brace up! Over the past few years, we have seen stars making a big deal of festivals and this year is also no different. There is an array of films lined up and we bring you the list to book tickets:

Thottappan

The movie was noted right from the time it was announced for it had Vinayakan as the lead. Directed by Shanavas K Bavakutty of 'Kismath' fame, Thottappan will see Vinayakan playing the titular character Thottappan while debutant actress Priyamvada will play the female lead in the film. Based on the novel by Francis Noronha, the film is bankrolled by Devadas Kadancheri and Shailaja Manikandan and will release on June 5.

Thamasha

It's been a while that viewers got to see Vinay Forrt in a pivotal role. And now for Eid on June 5, he's back with Thamasha. Directed by Ashraf Hamza and produced jointly by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Lijo Jose Pellissery and Chemban Vinod Jose under the banner of Happy Hours, the movie has already garnered attention with its song and teaser.

Children's Park

Shafi-Rafi team is back with Children's Park on June 5. Sharaf U Dheen, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Dhruvan, Gayathri Suresh, Manasa Radhakrishnan, and Soumya Menon are playing the leads with 75 child artistes. Going by the trailer, the movie promises to be a fun ride.

Virus

Virus is star-studded film and portrays the Nipah virus outbreak. Directed by Aashiq Abu, the film features Revathy, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Indrans, Asif Ali, Parvathy, Kunchacko Boban, Soubin Shahir, Joju George, Dileesh Pothan, Poornima Indrajith, Sreenath Bhasi, Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan, Senthil Krishna, Rahman, Madonna Sebastian etc. Based on true events that took place during the epidemic, the screenplay is by Muhsin Parari, Sharafu, and Suhas. The movie will release on June 7.

My Great grandfather

Directed by Aneesh Anwar, actor Jayaram is back with yet another entertainer My Great Grandfather. The female leads are played by Divya Pillai and Surabhi Santosh. The rest of the cast includes Baburaj, Salim Kumar, Baiju, Johny Antony, Ramesh Pisharody and Vijayaraghavan. The movie will see Jayaram playing a man in his 40s who looking to marry a woman many years younger than him. Produced by Haseeb Haneef, the film will arrive in theatres this Eid.

Unda

While Mammootty is soaring high with the success of Madhura Raja, his next is here. Directed by Anuraga Karikkin Vellam fame Khalid Rahman, Unda stars Mammootty, Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Arjun Ashokan, Dileesh Pothan, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Lukman etc. The movie revolves around a few policemen who are sent for poll duty in a Naxal-hit area. Unda is scheduled to release on June 14.

OP 160/18 Kakshi: Amminipilla

With Uyare's critical acclaim for his role, Asif Ali is on a roll. From bagging promising projects, the actor yet another interesting film will hit screens this Eid. The actor will be playing Pradeepan Manjodi, a lawyer based in Thalassery. Basil Joseph, Ahmed Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Sudeesh, and Mamukoya are also among the cast. Dinjith Ayyathan is making his directorial debut with the film which has been scripted by Sanilesh Sivan.

NGK

NGK, which is Suriya's much-awaited release of this year, will be hitting the theatres ahead of this Eid. The Selvaraghavan movie interestingly marks the return of the director after a gap of 6 years. NGK brings Sai Pallavi and Suriya together for the first time, and fans are eagerly looking forward. Bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures, NGK is all set to release on May 31, 2019.

Bharat

Sallu Bhai fans are cheerfully waiting to see their hero onscreen this Eid. An official adaptation of 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father, Bharat is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and also features Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Grover and Aasif Sheikh in key roles. The film promises to be a stunt-packed one, with glimpses of action sequences showed in the teaser. The film will see Salman in five different looks, spanning over 60 years, including a crucial part which will showcase the actor in his late 20s, looking much leaner and younger.
