Onmanorama's 'Greener Pastures' wins 'Special Jury Mention' at 5th KR Mohanan documentary fest

Onmanorama's News Documentary 'Greener Pastures - Three Unique Farmers, One Story' won a 'Special Jury Mention at the 5th KR Mohanan Memorial International Documentary Festival on Sunday.

Spanish director Arturo Duenas Herrero's short documentary 'Dajla Cine Y Olvido' won the 'Best Short Documentary' award at the festival which was held online due to COVID conditions.   

The News Documentary has also received an 'Official Selection' in the Kalaburgi International Film Festival -2022 to be held in March.

Greener Pastures has won the 'Best Documentary Short Film' award at the Indo-French International Film Festival 2021 and Madras Independent Film Festival. The first news documentary produced by Onmanorama, the English news website of Malayala Manorama, had earlier received the 'Official Entry' in international festivals like Docs Without Borders Film Festival in the United States and the Golden Tree International Documentary Festival in Germany.

'Greener Pastures' brings out the story of three unique farmers from Kerala - Kumbhamma, Sreedharan and Arun Kumar, who share an overwhelming passion for farming and self-reliance.

Celebrating their extraordinary contributions in the field of agriculture, the Kerala government introduced a special category in the Kerala State Agriculture Awards in 2021.

The documentary is shot and directed by Sruthi S Menon and Sajesh Mohan. Alex Pappachan has done the Sound Design and Editing of the documentary.
