SWAT-KATS is back: Toonz, Tremblay Bros revive iconic animation series

SWAT-KATS is easily one of the all-time classics in animation.

The premier Indian animation studio Toonz Media headquartered at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is joining hands with the US-based Tremblay Bros to revive the animation series SWAT-KATS, which was a rage among the 90s kids.

The new series SWAT-KATS Revolution will target 5 to 11-year-olds and will include a slew of new characters apart from the classic protagonists and villains. The new series will also feature a range of futuristic arsenals including new jet fighter planes for the heroes, besides other cutting-edge vehicles and gadgets.

While SWAT-KATS Revolution is a new series, the DNA of what made it successful will remain. The character sketches, the smart and witty writing, the action, the imaginative stories, and the larger-than-life villains will explore themes that the new audience will identify with, says Christian Tremblay .

“SWAT-KATS is easily one of the all-time classics in animation. It is a privilege for Toonz to revive this iconic show after all these years. We see tremendous potential for the property in the new context and among new audiences,” says Toonz Media Group CEO P. Jayakumar.

Toonz is an art and media powerhouse with over two decades of unparalleled experience and one of Asia’s most active animation production studios. The studio has a rich legacy of collaboration with the world’s leading entertainment studios, channels, and networks including Marvel, Nickelodeon, Turner, Disney, Netflix, Dreamworks, Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Sony, among others.
