Noted filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has reacted to the latest case registered against him at Elamakkara police station in Ernakulam, based on a complaint by a leading female actor accusing him of outraging her modesty.

Sanal Kumar said he was booked for his public statement regarding the actor's safety and alleged that he was not allowed to meet or speak to the actor. The director also told ‘Manorama Online’ that he did not believe the case was registered with the actor’s knowledge and appealed to the media to bring out the truth.

Sanal Kumar recalled that a similar case was registered against him at the same police station three years ago. “However, no investigation has been carried out into that false case. The police are yet to take your statement or come up with any proof,” he said, addressing the actor on social media.
“I contacted you and your relatives to warn you regarding the threat. But when I was prevented from meeting you personally, I had to go public regarding the threats you faced and shared the audio clips of our conversation, in which you explained the frightful situation you were in,” said Sanal Kumar.

The director further said, "I am certain that you were not aware of the complaint against me. However, I realize that the latest case was filed to ensure that you don’t issue a public statement or conduct a press conference to reveal the facts.”
Sanal had recently released the link to his movie 'Kayattam' involving actor Manju Warrier on social media, alleging there were concerted efforts to prevent him from releasing the movie in theatres.
