Unfortunate that members in AMMA are being portrayed in bad light: Raveendran reacts to Shwetha Menon case

Actor Raveendran, who is a candidate for the elections to the post of general secretary in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), has reacted to the case against Shwetha Menon, stating that it is unfortunate that members of AMMA are being portrayed in a negative light. He said stringent action should be taken against those who are targeting others with malicious intentions. Shwetha is the first woman candidate in the fray for the post of president in the upcoming elections slated to take place on August 15. Raveendran is in the fray in the upcoming AMMA elections and will be contesting against Kukku Parameswaran.
A case was filed against actor Shwetha Menon for allegedly promoting obscene material from her previous films. The Ernakulam Central Police have registered a case against Malayalam actor Shwetha Menon for allegedly earning money by acting in obscene films. She has been booked under Section 67(a) of the Information Technology Act, and is also facing charges under Sections 3 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
A petitioner Martin Menancherry also approached the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court seeking action against the actor, claiming that Shwetha had proudly claimed that one of her videos had receive over 30 crore views. He further alleged that the accused has been complicit in spreading such obscene material, which is a huge threat to the moral fabric of society.
However, actor and AMMA member Maala Parvathy claimed that the case against Shwetha Menon was politically fabricated and hinted that it was part of a larger power struggle targeting the women members who are vying for key posts in the association.
