Following several days of tense moments and heated exchanges on social media, the Kerala Film Producers’ Association elections were held in Kochi on Thursday. B Rakesh, who contested for the post of president, secured a decisive victory with 182 votes, defeating his opponent Saji Nanthyattu. Listin Stephen was elected as the secretary, garnering 128 votes.

Sandip Senan and Sophia Paul were elected vice-presidents with 187 and 133 votes, respectively. Alwin Antony and Hamsa M. M. were chosen as joint secretaries. In the executive committee elections, Sherga Sandeep defeated Sandra Thomas despite the latter having an early lead of 110 votes; Sandeep ultimately won with 184 votes. G. Suresh Kumar was also elected to the committee with a commanding majority of 201 votes.

Other members elected to the executive committee include Siyad Koker, Kochumon Century, Ousepachan Valakuzhy, Evershine Mani, K. Krishnakumar, Mukesh R. Metha, Abraham Mathew, Joby George, Thomas Mathew, Ramesh Kumar, Santosh Pavitram, and Vishak Subramaniam.

G Suresh Kumar welcomed the inclusion of younger members, calling it a ‘new chapter’ for the association. He also addressed recent controversies involving Sandra Thomas, describing her public statements against him and other association members as "unfortunate" and emotionally distressing for their families.

Sandra Thomas had earlier criticised the male-dominated structure of the association, alleging she was sidelined through unfair practices. Meanwhile, Vijay Babu took a swipe at Sandra, asserting that capable women like Sophia Paul and Sherga Sandeep had risen to leadership through merit. He also praised Listin Stephen, stating that he is a producer capable of leading 'at least four associations' simultaneously.
