Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ maintains momentum, crosses ₹450 crore mark

Rajinikanth’s latest film ‘Coolie’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is continuing its strong run at the box office. The gangster drama, which released on August 14, has crossed ₹250 crore nett in India within 11 days. As per estimates from Sacnilk, the film collected around ₹10.75 crore on its eleventh day, taking the total to ₹256.75 crore across all languages. The second weekend also saw an increase in footfalls, reflecting steady audience interest.
Overseas, ‘Coolie’ has performed well too. By day 10, the film’s India gross was ₹291.50 crore, while overseas earnings stood at ₹172 crore, taking its worldwide total to ₹463.50 crore. With this, the film has crossed the ₹450 crore mark globally and is moving towards ₹500 crore.
The film has received mixed reviews, with many highlighting inconsistencies in the story. In ‘Coolie’, Rajinikanth plays Deva, a former coolie who now runs a hostel. After the mysterious death of his friend Rajashekharan (Sathyaraj), Deva takes it upon himself to uncover the truth while looking after his friend’s three daughters.
