Dulquer Salmaan, who produced the blockbuster ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ under his banner Wayfarer Productions, recently heaped praise on actress Kalyani Priyadarshan for her unwavering dedication and passion for her craft. Speaking at the film’s success meet in Hyderabad, Dulquer shared a deep personal connection with Kalyani, likening their bond to that of twins.
“Kalyani is like my cheli (younger sister in Telugu). We’re so alike, I honestly feel like we were twins in a past life. We share the same fears, insecurities, and worries—I noticed it when we worked together on Varane Avashyamund. I could just sense it,” he said. “I remember asking her, ‘Are you nervous?’ because I knew exactly what she was feeling. I told her, ‘I know how this works. I’ll help you.’ And from that moment, we bonded instantly.”
Dulquer went on to commend her exceptional commitment to her role in Lokah, not just in terms of physical preparation but also in shaping her character, both emotionally and visually. “Honestly, I don't think any other actor—including myself—would show the kind of passion she did. If she had signed the film in December and the shoot was scheduled for August, she would have started training the very next day—not because anyone asked her to, but because she felt it was her responsibility. She knew she was playing a superhero and completely owned it. I truly believe she’s an absolute revelation, and I can't think of anyone more deserving to play Chandra.”
Kalyani Priyadarshan, who plays the titular superhero Chandra in the Dominic Arun-directed film, is currently basking in the success of her career-defining role. Arun, previously known for ‘Tharangam’ starring Tovino Thomas, has received widespread acclaim for his direction in this ambitious project. ‘Lokah’ also features cameo appearances by Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan himself, though both have limited screen time in the film.
