Malayalam cinema’s beloved star Mammootty turned 74 on Thursday, and among the many wishes he received, the one from his son Dulquer Salmaan stood out for its warmth and poetry.
Dulquer shared a photo of Mammootty holding a camera and penned a heartfelt note comparing his father to the “Sun.” In his message, he wrote about how even the darkest times could not dim Mammootty’s light: “Sometimes when you shine so bright the rain clouds come to protect you… We prayed because we cannot survive without your warmth. Even on the darkest days, when the days almost seemed like nights, we prayed.”

He went on to describe how the prayers of many were finally answered: “At long last the prayers got too much for the rain clouds. The clouds caved. They burst with thunderous sound and blinding light. They rained and showered all the love they have for you, upon us… And now our parched lands are green again. There are rainbows and raindrops all around us.”
Ending his message with a tender note, Dulquer wrote: “Happy Birthday Sun. We love you to the Moon.”

Mammootty, meanwhile, chose simplicity to mark the occasion. He shared a serene picture of himself leaning casually against his SUV, dressed in a printed shirt and mundu, gazing out at the sea. His caption read: “Love and Thanks to All and The Almighty.”
The father-son duo’s posts quickly went viral, with fans moved by the emotional exchange and their enduring bond.
