Fans have uncovered an interesting link behind the casting of Nishanth Sagar in 'Lokah', where Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the titular superhero, Chandra. Their discovery draws on a film that Nishanth had previously starred in, creating an amusing and nostalgic connection.
In the 2000 Malayalam film 'Indriyam', directed by George Kithu, Nishanth Sagar portrayed the character Sunny. In the movie, Sunny’s role was pivotal as he freed the Yakshi named Neeli, who had been trapped in a tree. Now, in 'Lokah', Kalyani's character, Chandra, is a modern-day reinterpretation of Neeli, and fans have noticed the thematic and casting connection between the two films. The link lies in the fact that Nishanth’s character in 'Indriyam' had previously freed Neeli, and now in 'Lokah', he plays Prakash, a character who gives advice to Chandra, effectively continuing his connection to Neeli's world.
An interesting coincidence that fans have pointed out is that in 'Lokah', Naslen’s character, who plays Chandra’s love interest, is also named Sunny—adding a layer of fun to this crossover.
'Indriyam', which was released in 2000, is a Malayalam horror film featuring an ensemble cast that includes Vikram, Nishanth Sagar, Boban Alummoodan, Vani Viswanath, and Lena. The movie revolves around a group of college students who venture into Muthuvan Mala forest, where they encounter the haunting Yakshi, Neeli. The film, known for its eerie atmosphere, became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It was so successful that it was later dubbed into Tamil under the name 'Mandir Kottai' in December 2000.
In 'Lokah', Nishanth Sagar plays Prakash, an enigmatic character who serves as an assistant to the mysterious figure, Moothon. Dulquer Salmaan recently confirmed in a social media post that Mammootty is Moothon in 'Lokah'. The character Prakash, guided by Moothon, plays a critical role in bringing Neeli (now Chandra) to Bengaluru, setting the stage for her journey in the modern world.
