The Arjun Ashokan-starrer Sumathi Valavu, which hit theatres over a month ago, has finally locked its OTT release date. Directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar and written by Abhilash Pillai, the film marks their second collaboration after the hit Malikappuram.

Set in a remote village in rural Kerala, the story revolves around a notorious bend in the road known as ‘Sumathi Valavu’. According to local legend, the curve is haunted by the ghost of Sumathi, and those who dare to cross it are doomed to die. Arjun Ashokan plays Appu, a young man who becomes entangled in the eerie mystery surrounding the haunted turn.

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan and Murali Kunnampurathu, the film blends horror and humour, offering both scares and laughs. The ensemble cast includes Balu Varghese, Gokul Suresh, Saiju Kurup, Sidharth Bharathan, Sravan Mukesh, Nandu, Manoj K U, Sreejith Ravi, Bobby Kurian, Abhilash Pillai, Sreepathyan, Jayakrishnan, Kottayam Ramesh, Sumesh Chandran, Chembil Ashokan, Vijayakumar, Siva Ajayan, Rafi, Manoj Kumar, Master Anirudh, Malavika Manoj, Juhi Jayakumar, Gopika Anil, Sivada, Sija Rose, Devananda, Jesniya Jayadeesh, Sminu Sijo, Geethi Sangeetha, and Aswathy Abhilash.

The film’s music is composed by Ranjin Raj. Cinematography is by P. V. Shankar, editing by Shafeek Muhammad Ali, and art direction by Ajay Mangadu. Sujith Mattannur is in charge of costume design. The film will start streaming on September 26 on Zee 5.
