Actor Gouri Kishan, known for her work in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema, recently called out a vlogger for asking a derogatory question about her weight during a press conference for the Tamil film ‘Others’ in Chennai. At the event, which included the director and other cast members, the vlogger posed a question to the hero Aditya Madhavan about her weight.

Gouri immediately challenged the inappropriate inquiry, questioning whether the vlogger would ask the same of a male actor. She firmly told him that his question was both disrespectful and irrelevant, urging him to focus on her character in the film instead. Gouri also pointed out that such behavior had nothing to do with journalism, and in fact, was a complete disservice to the profession.

Speaking to Manorama News, Gouri revealed that the same vlogger had asked her a similar question during a prior interview, and that she had regretted not responding at the time. She also shared how she was forced to defend herself in front of a room full of men, speaking for nearly 10–12 minutes without support from her team.
“I’m not sure if it’s some kind of male ego that prompts questions about a heroine’s weight,” Gouri said. “The director has every right to discuss my weight with me, but what business is it of the vlogger’s? A woman’s body is complex, shaped by hormonal imbalances, and without knowing about my medical condition, who is he to comment on my weight?”
Gouri expressed her respect for journalists—having studied the subject in college herself—but made it clear that the question did not follow journalistic ethics. She also voiced her disappointment with the film's team for not defending her during the press meet, though she clarified that she held no ill will toward them, understanding their position.
