‘Kaiyethum Doorathu’ actor Abhinay passes away after long battle with liver disease

Kollywood actor Abhinay, who also appeared as Kishore in director Fazil's 'Kaiyethum Doorathu' in Mollywood, passed away after a long battle with liver-related health issues. According to IANS, the actor had been living alone and continued to work despite his deteriorating health, driven by financial constraints.
Abhinay first gained recognition with his debut film 'Thulluvadho Illamai' (2002), written by Dhanush's brother Selvaraghavan and directed by his father, Kasthuri Raja. He played a key role in this coming-of-age drama, which followed the lives of six high school students.
Abhinay went on to act in several Tamil and a few Malayalam films over the years, with his career spanning until 2014. Apart from acting, he also worked as a dubbing artist. Earlier this year, he made a brief comeback in director Abhishek Leslie's Tamil film 'Game of Loans,' but his health began to worsen soon after. Actors Dhanush and KPY Bala had extended financial support for Abhinay's medical treatment.
Abhinay was the son of late Malayalam actress Radhamani, who won a National Award for her performance in Utharayanam. After her passing in 2019 due to cancer, Abhinay faced financial difficulties. In interviews, he spoke candidly about his struggles, including relying on government-supplied meals to get by.
Though he was a Malayali by birth, Abhinay predominantly worked in Tamil cinema. His went on to appear in 15 films, including 'Solla Solla Inikkum' and 'Paalaivaanam.' His last big-screen appearance was in the 2014 comedy 'Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham.' As per reports, Abhinay's mortal remains will be kept at his residence in Kodambakkam for the public to pay their respects.
