'Malaikottai Vaaliban,' starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead role, is set to release in Japan nearly two years after its theatrical debut in India. The makers have announced that the dubbed version of the film will be released in Japan on January 17. Director Lijo Jose Pellissery took to social media to share the news, posting the film’s poster on his official handle.

Touted as Lijo's magnum opus, Malaikottai Vaaliban was one of the most highly anticipated Malayalam films of 2024. However, the fantasy drama received a lukewarm reception at the box office. The screenplay was penned by renowned screenwriter P S Rafiq, who had previously collaborated with Lijo on successful films like 'Nayakan' and 'Amen.'

The film features an ensemble cast, including Bengali actress Katha Nandi, Sonali Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Manikanda Rajan, Rajeev Pillai, Danish Sait, Hariprashant Varma, Suchitra Nair, and Manoj Mosses.
