Tamil superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan expressed their heartfelt condolences following the passing of the legendary actor and master storyteller Sreenivasan, whom they both remembered as an exceptional actor and a man with an extraordinary mind.
In a voice message shared on Manorama News, Rajinikanth spoke about his deep friendship with Sreenivasan, recalling how they had known each other since their early days as cinema students. Both Rajinikanth and Sreenivasan studied at the MGR Government Film and Television Training Institute in Madras, though they were not in the same class. Their paths crossed again years later, in 2007, when Rajinikanth watched Sreenivasan’s film ‘Katha Parayumpol.’ Tamil director P. Vasu, who was keen on remaking the film, helped reconnect the old friends. This led Rajinikanth to star in the Tamil remake, ‘Kuselan,’ where he reprised Mammootty’s role from the original.
“Sreenivasan is my good friend. He and I studied together at the Cinema institute. He was a great actor. And an even better human being. May his soul reset in peace,” he said in the voice clip.
Kamal Haasan also shared his condolences, describing Sreenivasan as an artist who did more than just entertain. "Some artists remain, some enlighten, some provoke. Sreenivasan did it all—with a smile that carried truth and a laugh that carried responsibility. My respects to a remarkable mind. Deepest condolences to his family and admirers."
Actor Rohini, who was deeply saddened by the news, expressed her sorrow, saying that there would never be another screenplay writer or storyteller capable of capturing the essence of the common man like Sreenivasan. “He was our guru. He had such a brilliant mind, and I don’t think we will ever get a screenplay writer like him again,” she said.
