The producer of the Hindi remake of Drishyam 3 has served legal notice to Akshaye Khanna after the actor walked out of the project. Akshaye, who plays a pivotal role in the franchise allegedly backed out after the makers had announced the release date of the movie. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the producer of the film Mangat Pathak confirmed that Panorama Studios has decided to sue the actor allegedly for breaching the contract.
The producer, meanwhile, claimed that the production house had to hold several discussions with Akshaye regarding remuneration and finalised an amount but the actor stopped responding to calls a few days prior to the shoot. The producer then went on to claim that Akshaye also had problems with his look in the movie.
Akshaye who played IG Tarun Ahlawat, a close friend of the police office played by Tabu, had appeared without a wig in ‘Drishyam 2’, but he allegedly demanded a wig in the third instalment. Mangat also went on to claim that Akshay has let the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ get to his head. “There was a time when Akshaye was nothing. That's when I made Section 375 (2019) with him. Even then, so many people told us not to work with him because of his unprofessional behaviour. His energy on set is absolutely toxic. Section 375 got him recognition. Later, I signed him in 'Drishyam 2' (2022). He has got all the big offers only after Drishyam 2,” he said in the interview to Bollywood Hungama.
However, netizens defended Akshaye soon after the producer’s remarks went viral on social media. Many stated that the producer was jealous of Akshaye’s new success in ‘Durandhar’, while others said Askhaye is a soft target as he is not on social media to respond to such claims.
The Hindi remake of 'Drishyam 3' directed by Abhishek Pathak is bankrolled jointly by Alok Jain and Ajith Antara for the banner of Panorama Studios. Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and Ishita Dutta will be reprising their roles in the third part too.
