Basil Joseph looks years younger for ‘Athiradi’; Tovino calls it ‘age in reverse gear’

Basil Joseph is turning heads with his latest look for the upcoming film 'Athiradi'. In a recent post, the actor shared a photo of himself in a crisp blue shirt and white pants, sporting a youthful, Gen Z-inspired hairstyle that has fans raving. He captioned it, 'Meet SamBoy (Roll No 31, BTech First year, Civil Engineering, BCET) from “Athiradi”.'

The reactions poured in instantly. Actor Tovino Thomas commented, 'Uff! age in reverse gear,' while Nazriya Nazim added, 'Polichada mutheeee...common da.' Social media users were equally impressed, with many saying Basil looked no older than 18. One fan wrote, 'This is top-notch! Not everyone has what it takes. You're a rare breed!'

'Athiradi' is set to hit theatres during Onam 2026, though an exact release date is yet to be announced. The film brings together a stellar lineup with Basil, Tovino Thomas, and Vineeth Sreenivasan in lead roles. Marking the directorial debut of Arun Anirudhan, who previously made waves with his writing on 'Minnal Murali' and 'Padayottam', the movie is already generating buzz.

The project is also notable for being the first production venture of Basil Joseph Entertainment in collaboration with Dr Ananthu Entertainment. Dr Ananthu, founder and CEO of Xylem Learning, steps into cinema with this film, highlighting the growing interest of entrepreneurs in Malayalam filmmaking. Adding to the star-studded and technically strong team, Tovino Thomas and cinematographer-filmmaker Sameer Thahir have come on board as co-producers, ensuring 'Athiradi' benefits from both creative vision and production expertise.
